    Trauma & Addiction

Numerous research studies confirm the link between traumatic experiences in childhood and addictive behaviors in adulthood. Most notable is the original study of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). ACEs include traumatic experiences such as physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, neglect, loss of a parent, witnessing intimate partner violence, and living with a family member with a mental illness. As the number of ACEs increase, the risk of alcohol and other drug use disorders also increase.

    online counselling

Many clients benefit from engaging in online therapy from the comfort of their own space. Online sessions are conducted over televideo and maintain the same ethical and professional boundaries that guide our face-to-face sessions. If you would like to learn more about online therapy or to make an appointment, please feel free to reach out and get in touch.
